A restaurant born from history, driven by passion, and seasoned with the flavours of the Winelands.
Blacksmith's Kitchen is a cosy and relaxed bistro-style restaurant, situated in the old blacksmith's cottages on Blacksmith's Estate in Paarl. These two buildings predate the Manor House by some 70 years, and many of their original features have been lovingly preserved throughout.
Before this, the buildings functioned as a workshop and tractor shed. Some of those more agricultural trinkets have been deliberately retained, giving the space an irreplaceable warmth and character that you simply won't find anywhere else in the Winelands.
Today, Blacksmith's Kitchen is more than a restaurant — it is a place where history, hospitality and exceptional food come together, framed by one of the most breathtaking views in Paarl.
The buildings that house Blacksmith's Kitchen are among the oldest on the estate, predating the Manor House by approximately 70 years. From working forge to tractor shed, these walls have witnessed generations of farm life on Blacksmith's Estate.
The restoration preserved as much original fabric as possible — exposed timber, original stonework, and those wonderfully imperfect floors that tell a story with every step. The result is a space that feels both deeply rooted and warmly alive.
Meals made this way can't be rushed — so sit back, enjoy the view and let us spoil you with hearty food and friendly service.
We buy seasonal vegetables from local farms, cut our own chips from fresh potatoes, and make our pizza bases by hand every day. No shortcuts, no frozen goods — just honest ingredients prepared with care.
Our wood-fired oven is the heart of the kitchen. Every pizza base is hand-stretched and baked to order. The char, the smoke, the crisp edges — these things cannot be replicated and we wouldn't have it any other way.
From our trusted local butchers to the farmers who supply our seasonal produce, Blacksmith's Kitchen is woven into the fabric of the Paarl community. We select only the best and partner with suppliers who share our values.
At Blacksmith's Kitchen we take great pride in preparing our meals with as many raw ingredients as we can. We believe that food made from scratch — with intention — has a flavour and a soul that shortcuts simply cannot match.
Our Mediterranean-inspired menu is guided by what is fresh and in season. The vegetables come from local farms, the meat from trusted butchers, and wherever possible from our own farm patch on the estate.
Meals made this way can't be rushed — and we wouldn't want them to be. Slow down, take in the view, and let us cook something worth waiting for.
Behind every dish is a kitchen team that takes genuine pride in what they do. From the careful sourcing of ingredients to the final garnish, each plate that leaves our kitchen reflects the standards we hold ourselves to.
The atmosphere is warm, the service is friendly, and the kitchen is always open to a conversation about what went into your meal. We believe the story behind food makes it taste even better.
